Taipei Shilin Market



Shilin market is well known as a tourist spot in Taipei, my best visit was 3years ago with my companion-Sarah. I remember how we crazily buy the entire food and pack everything back to the hotel. Her classical expression of chou tofu attempt was the funniest moment! Hahaha..

I must say their fruit taste naturally sweet!  It ain't cheap by the way :/ so pick wisely and bargain!

Found this randomly! Saw it before on FB then I was like,'ewww who the hell will buy this?!' 

So I did..

Oh, I ordered honey mustard with sausage in it. Nothing impress me though, it's just a normal sausage waffle with THAT weird look!

They are too stingy to give more of the marinated cabbage ;/ I still prefer the one at sungai long night market..I miss it right now!

大肠包小肠 Chinese sausage with glutinous rice NT60
It's a very famous street snack in Taiwan. The chinese sausage is rather sweet in taste, so it goes pretty well with glutinous rice(sticky rice). Highly recommend this stall!

上海生煎包

Have you tried stir-fried steamed pau? NO? The combination is too good to be explained, it's soft X crispy X chewy X juicy,gahhh so good!  
There's soup in it! Don't burn your tongue!
You can literally bite the crispy part on the bottom, and taste along with the juicy meat..mmm..

润饼卷 Spring Roll NT35
We called it 'Popiah' in hokkien, do you spot the white paper like-crepe where they stuffed everything in it? It's a chinese pancake that made from wheat flour. The hardest part to make this thing is, the crepe has to be thin enough with a bit elastic.

Homemade colorful rice ball



Patience is the best remedy.
It doesn't matter on what you're doing, believe in yourself and give a little more patience, always least expectation, no comparison, just beyond yourself.. it will leads you further. Happy new year peeps!

So, as I was mentioning earlier that I wanted to make the ginger bread for Christmas. Right, I forgot about it.
But instead, I made something different. :D
'Tang Yuan' is a Chinese traditional dessert that made from glutinous rice flour, it is usually eaten with family on 'Winter Solstice Day' every year. It can be made from several of flavors, my favorite is pandan soup. :) 

I don't know if you've realized, it tastes better after overnight in the fridge, the texture becomes more sticky, well maybe it's my personal favorite. Haha

However, its difficult to digest when you eat too much and it certainly makes you feel real uncomfortable.  :/

Okay, let's begin the lesson of dessert making..


























The food presentation plays the important role. If your food taste extremely good but lack of decoration, it becomes just another 'normal food'. Nowadays people carry camera everywhere, discovering every corners for good looking food but of course the taste requirement is a must! Oh dear, can you see the hard work?

Black sesame, cornflakes and sun flower seed. Yumm~

Method: Mashed the ingredient that you wish to fill with the tang yuan, do it when its hot! Served immediately. 






Nothing can describe the hard work we've been through. Its a day where remind you of family, if you're homesick, don't hesitate to make a phone call, they might be busy but always remember a home is build with love and dreams.
